Why Writing Out Your Dream Is Important

Do you write out your New Year’s Resolutions each year? If so, have you ever thought about why you do it? There is power in writing out your dream, writing out your WHY in life. Those who actually take the time to put their dreams into words and document it have a significantly higher chance of achieving those dreams than those who do not. Also, those who write out their dreams and share it with a friend also increase their chances of accomplishing their goal because they now have a partner to help motivate them.

Today, I challenge you to think about what your WHY or your DREAM is and take time to write it down on a piece of paper. Carry it with you and revisit it each morning. By doing this, it will help you transform your thoughts and turn your dreams into your reality. This could take you as little or as long as you need, but try to find some quiet time so that you can fully focus on the task.

If you are more of a visual person, you could consider creating a vision board. Print out motivational quotes and find images that are related to your dream and put your vision board in a place that you will see it most. Revisit your board each morning, repeat your WHY to yourself, and start to align yourself with living a life that you would love to live.

How often do we THINK of our goals, but we don’t take the time to write it down or create a visual aid to keep us motivated? There is power in the written word – when we allow ourselves to see the words and to see the images, this will help you to identify opportunities that you may have overlooked when you were busy “thinking.” If we do not change the steps that we have been taking, then we will continue to receive the same results. With this challenge, I want you to be conscious of your choices and question if there is a different path to take. This may take you out of your comfort zone, but true change doesn’t come without making yourself a little uncomfortable.

One last thing before you start brainstorming – think about how you will feel once your goal is accomplished. If you take some time thinking about the end result, then it may help you formulate a clearer, more definitive goal. This can be a powerful thing for your mind and your soul, so I don’t want you to take this final step lightly.

Once you have created your WHY, I’d love for you to share it! Comment below with your dream, or if you feel more comfortable, feel free to email it to me. Let’s crush some goals together!
